2025 MAZDA CX-50 HYBRID vs 2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid

Serving Mentor, OH

The Mazda CX-50 Hybrid is a new addition to the automaker’s lineup in 2025. This compact crossover SUV directly competes against the established Honda CR-V Hybrid. The CR-V Hybrid is a carryover from the 2024 model year, and it brings no updates to the table for you to enjoy. Before narrowing your options to a specific model, what should you know about the Mazda CX-50 Hybrid and the Honda CR-V Hybrid?

Performance

The 2025 Mazda CX-50 Hybrid is well-engineered and features three electric motors. These motors are tied to a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine, which produces 219 horsepower. The system connects to a continuously variable automatic transmission and has standard all-wheel drive.

The CR-V Hybrid, on the other hand, links one electric motor with a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine. This unit produces 204 horsepower. Front-wheel drive is the standard setup, and all-wheel drive is an upgrade.

Appearance

The façade of the Mazda CX-50 Hybrid is decidedly sporty with prominent contouring over the sides, thick body molding, and a smoothly rolling hood. The grille stretches wide to connect with compact LED headlights. Angled, gill-like air inlets flank the bumper.

The CR-V Hybrid is styled with a flatter hood that sharply curves into the wide grille. The grille has a staggered, linear mesh design, and the LED-topped headlights angle outward from the grille. The sides of the CR-V Hybrid are designed with an upper pinstripe accent and molding crossing over the lower door panels.

Features

The Mazda CX-50 Hybrid is available in three trim levels. Features offered across these trim levels include driver memory settings, heated seats, a head-up display, leather upholstery, power-folding side mirrors, a panoramic sunroof, a Bose sound system with 12 speakers, a wireless device charger, a power liftgate, a 10.25-inch infotainment system screen, forward collision mitigation, adaptive cruise control, and more.

The CR-V Hybrid’s features include a 9-inch infotainment system screen, an eight-speaker sound system, a wireless charging pad, a power liftgate, low-speed auto braking, ambient cabin lights, a heated steering wheel, and several others.
