In 2024, the popular Mazda CX-9 is replaced by the Mazda CX-90 in the lineup. The most significant difference between the 2024 Mazda CX-90 and the 2024 Mazda CX-90 PHEV is in their capabilities. Two gas-powered engines are available for the Mazda CX-90’s five trim levels. These are a 280-horsepower, I-6, 3.3-liter engine, and a more powerful, 340-horsepower variant. Both engines tie to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Mazda CX-90 PHEV, on the other hand, is equipped with a four-cylinder, 2.5-liter gas engine, and a single electric motor. This system produces 323 combined horsepower and features an eight-speed automatic transmission. Its all-electric range is 26 miles.


Visually, the 2024 Mazda CX-90 and the Mazda CX-90 PHEV are comparable. They both display a graceful, tall profile and chrome accentuation on the lower door panels and side air vents. This chrome theme continues with a lower accent bar on the front bumper, a supporting bar underlining the prominent grille, and trim connecting to the LED headlights. Depending on the trim you prefer, both models offer exterior features like a power liftgate, roof rails, 19-inch alloy wheels or larger, a sunroof, auto-dimming and power-folding side mirrors, and other gear.


The safety and cabin features of the Mazda CX-90 and Mazda CX-90 PHEV are comparable across their trims.
