 What’s New for the 2025 Mazda CX-50 Hybrid?

In 2025, the popular Mazda CX-50 compact crossover SUV will receive an exciting update. The Mazda CX-50 is now available with a hybrid powertrain for the first time. Three of the Mazda CX-50’s 10 available trim levels come with a hybrid powertrain. These mid-level trims are the Hybrid Preferred, the Hybrid Premium, and the Hybrid Premium Plus.

All three trim levels use the same gas-powered 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine that is in the lower trim levels. They add three electric motors to produce 219 combined horsepower. This system includes a continuously variable auto transmission and comes with standard all-wheel drive.

The 2025 Mazda CX-50 Hybrid trim levels are identical to the gas trim levels across the exterior. The design is remarkably modern and sleek with a raked rear and a flatly sloped hood. The smooth sides are accessorized with thick, dark molding, squared-off wheel wells, and pinwheel-style wheels. At the front end, the Mazda CX-50 Hybrid’s molded bumper rolls outward to the tall air vents. The wide grille features a staggered mesh pattern. A thick band underscores the grille and reaches up to support the small, piercing LED headlights. Exterior features include a power liftgate, heated and power-folding side mirrors, a windshield de-icer, and up to 20-inch alloy wheels.

The Hybrid Preferred trim level’s interior and safety features include heated front seats, adaptive cruise control, a blind-spot warning, lane departure mitigation, forward collision mitigation, a partial digital instrument panel, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, remote keyless entry, a keyless starter, a 10.25-inch infotainment system screen, and an eight-speaker sound system. Higher hybrid trim levels are available with a 12-speaker Bose sound system, a panoramic sunroof, a wireless smartphone charger, an auto-dimming rear mirror, leather upholstery, a head-up display, and driver’s memory settings.
