2023 MAZDA CX-5 vs 2024 MAZDA CX-90
Serving Mentor, OH
On the surface, the 2023 Mazda CX-5 and the next-generation 2024 Mazda CX-90 share some aesthetic traits. However, these popular crossover SUV models are excitingly unique in critical areas. Our focus at Classic Mazda is on each shopper’s individual satisfaction, and we look forward to helping you decide which Mazda model is the ideal fit for your expectations.
Performance
The 2023 Mazda CX-5 is a small, two-row crossover with eight trim options. The 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine loaded in most trims generates 187 horsepower. Two of the Mazda CX-5’s trims have a 256-horsepower, turbocharged gas engine. All-wheel drive and an auto six-speed transmission are standard. On the other hand, the three-row Mazda CX-90 is a midsize crossover with three available powertrains. The two gas engines are a turbo V6, a 3.3-liter, 280-horsepower unit, and an upgraded V6 that produces 340 horsepower. A plug-in hybrid powertrain is also available for the Mazda CX-90. It has an all-electric range of 26 miles and delivers 323 combined horsepower. All three of the Mazda CX-90’s powertrains are combined with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
Appearance
The Mazda CX-5 is styled with gracious curves over its roof and hood and lightly defined definition and molding on the sides. The wide, U-shaped grille and the short bumper are both dressed in black. Deep dimples rather than air inlets flank the bumper. The headlights are triangular, with a large bulb and a lower LED bar. The 2023 Mazda CX-90 has a commanding presence thanks to its elegant nose and sloped roof. The sides have a touch of chrome definition on the lower panels and near the front fender. Metal also underscores the grille and front bumper. The grille’s accent bar flows directly into the deep-set headlights. Bold air inlets also distinguish the nose.
Features
You can appreciate some similar features in both of these Mazda models. Their in-common features are rear auto braking, leather and wood cabin materials, a 360-degree camera, a navigation system, parking sensors, a wireless charging pad, a Bose audio system, heated seats in the first two rows, a head-up display, smart device app connections, a heated steering wheel, driver’s memory settings, Mazda Connected Services, and others. The Mazda CX-90 is also available with quilted leather upholstery, second-row captain’s chairs, wireless connectivity for smart device applications, second-row sunshades, and several other items.
